Unusually Nottinghamshire has two very different romantic images attached to it: the outgoing and happy-go-lucky version of Robin Hood and Maid Marian fame, and the brooding D.H. Lawrence style – though the latter has more than a bit of oomph too thanks to gamekeeper Mellors and his Lady.
