The beauty of the countryside surrounding Barnard Castle, and of the town itself, has drawn a multitude of artists and writers over the centuries, among them Turner and Wordsworth. Not a bad place then to set your wedding! The town is comfortably small, a quiet sort of place maybe just right for a quiet and tasteful sort of wedding, though it is not without its major attractions including the remains of the castle from which the settlement takes its name. Its calming atmosphere of a solid old market town complete with eye-catching market cross is so very British, a fine backdrop for your big day when calm could be at a premium!
