The knowledge that Tiverton was once a major wool-town may not excite the pre-wedding imagination too much, but when you consider it became a significant centre of lace-making in the 19th century maybe you will start to make a connection with the place. Your photographer’s imagination may be fired too by thoughts of the pleasing waterside backdrops and the ancient church and chapel. There is no shortage of waterside by the way, with two rivers – the Exe and the Lowman – plus a stretch of the Grand Western Canal. This is a bustling place still, though with glorious wooded valleys around it to maintain a sense of natural stability.
