Leaving behind the famous city of Alghero you reach the mountain Doglia, at her feet you find the beautiful bay of Porto Conte between Punta Del Giglio and Capo Caccia discovered by the Romans and named by roman geographer Tolomeo “Portus Nympharum” (Porto delle Ninfe – The bay of the Nymphs) for the beauty of the clear waters coloured blue and green. Continuing in the direction of the famous tower Torre Aragonese of Porto Conte you meet Hotel El Faro.
Built in the 1956’s from the project of illustrious architect Antonio Simon Mossa, that he project also the Escala de Cabriol to the Neptun Caves. The hotel recovers its splendour following a reconstruction terminated in 2003. Going through the arches of the entrance you can not imagine the spectacular vision of Capo Caccia and the original dimensions of this place, escaped from mass-tourism, surrounded by a natural reserve.
Inside the 88 rooms you will have the sensation of being in the interior a big transoceanic boat, facing the sea, here relaxing in the rooms all decorated in a typical Sardinian way, the only thing you will hear is the crystal clear water that gently touches the rocks or the song of a sea-gull that is flying over you.
The sensation that hotel El Faro wants to transmit to the guest is absolute tranquillity and relax, the pureness of the surrounding environment with its energy and with its natural essence only two hours away from the main European cities.
In its unique position the hotel has the advantage of a micro-climate, and there are days were you will discover that in the areas around you find mist and rain, however, on the peninsula of Porto Conte you find fresh and clear weather.
Wonderful are the guided boat, horse and tracking excursions in the area, in which you can discover the park of Punta del Giglio on the mountain Monte Rudedu, the caves of Neptun or to get in to the natural reserve of Arca di Noè on the mountain Monte Timidone waiting for the fantastic sunset over the sea.
Passionate divers can experience excursions in caves escorted by expert guides and maybe admire the promenade of a lobster. Very good are also the conditions for windsurfing and other sailing sports especially during the months of June, July and September.
