Once the Medieval country Palace of the Bishops of Exeter, Bishops Court is now a spectacular Gothic-Revival, country house in a superb 30 acre parkland setting, approached along a magnificent Lime Avenue, less than four miles from the centre of Exeter.
Available for exclusive hire for Weddings and Partnership ceremonies for groups of up to 100, we specialise in shorter, half day, hires allowing you to hold your Wedding Ceremony, Blessing, photographs and champagne reception in this magnificent historic Country House before moving to one of the many nearby hotels or quaint country Inns for the wedding feast and evening party. As well as giving you the flexibility to choose settings that compliment the mood of both the earlier more formal part of the day, and the later more relaxed party atmosphere, this combination also has the benefit of being an extremely affordable option. You are welcome to supply your own champagne, which your guests can enjoy in the sunshine on the West terrace, or in the elegance and splendour of the Great Hall, with fires blazing and candles lit.
A magnificent 13th century private chapel is situated within the house, where you can hold a candlelit blessing, accompanied by organ music and traditional hymns. All facilities are at ground floor level, and we will be on hand to advise and assist throughout the planning phase to ensure that your Wedding is unique and magical.
