Commanding a spectacular hilltop location in Derbyshire, this enchanting castle with romantic picture-book looks is a magical place to hold special events.

Beautiful open courtyards and a walled garden sit between stunning ruins and impressive 17th century buildings, offering a versatile combination of spaces, including three areas licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

Begun by Sir Charles Cavendish in 1612, Bolsover Castle was built not for defence, but as an elegant retreat, reminiscent of an age of chivalry and romance. The 17th century mansion was later extended by his son, William, a dashing cavalier, who indulged a passion for training horses and hosted numerous society gatherings.
