The most romantic venue in North Devon for your wedding

From wooded cliffs far above the tiny harbour, a cobbled street winds down to the sea past cottages, flower bestrewn the summer long. Clovelly is an enchanting village of timeless beauty and has a picturesque choice of settings for a wedding day of wonderful memories.

The New Inn, in the heart of the village, has a wedding licence, so you can be married in the oak beamed Hamlyn Room and enjoy your reception there in a heart-warming village atmosphere. On the other hand, what could be more romantic than to lead your guests down the cobbled street to the ancient harbour. Here there is an album filling selection of maritime settings for your wedding photographs and the Red Lion, right on the quayside, is perfectly placed for your wedding breakfast.

The New Inn can cater for a seated reception of up to 26 guests while the Red Lion Hotel can host a wedding breakfast of around 50. The two hotels offer 19 en-suite bedrooms and there are other accommodation options in the village.

For a wedding party of up to 150 guests, we offer marquee space on the terrace of Clovelly Court, ancestral home of the owners of Clovelly. From such a vantage point, the panoramic vista of Bideford Bay and beyond is simply breathtaking. The Terrace is a very short, tree-lined walk from Clovelly Village’s old church of “All Saints”.

We also provide a complimentary first night stay for the bride and groom and special overnight rates for your guests if they fill both hotels.

A wedding day is one of those memorable days of your life when everything has to be just perfect. We have the experience, skills and, most importantly, the commitment to make your wedding day truly special.

The Wilderland Summerhouse
Much use was made of local materials to restore this beautiful building, winner of a civic conservation award. It could not be set in a more romantic location with its view from the cliff top down to the Atlantic cove of Mouth Mill. It can be reached by Land Rover.

The Cabin
This secluded and wildly romantic location is approached on foot across Clovelly Court parkland to a kissing gate, beyond which a short rhododendron tunnel leads to this restored C19th rustic shelter perched on the cliff top. It was built by Sir James Hamlyn Williams, a former owner of Clovelly.
Framed by ancient, gnarled oak trees, the view across Bideford Bay is simply stunning.

The Terrazza
This is an emergency wet weather venue at Clovelly Visitor Centre, which enjoys a panoramic view of Bideford Bay.
