Cyfarthfa Castle was built in 1824 for the ironmaster, William Crawshay, and is a sumptuous Regency building commanding a wonderful view of the valley and town of Merthyr Tydfil.
Surrounded by 160 acres of woodland and parks (ideal for photographs), the Castle has superb Regency décor, beautiful collections of fine and decorative arts, and many other attractions, making this the perfect venue for a civil wedding with a difference.
The room licensed for civil ceremonies was formerly the office of William Crawshay, where he oversaw the management of the castle and park. Decorated in the original 1824 wallpaper of blue jasmine on a green background with gold stars, complimented by the original grey/green paintwork, it is a simple yet elegant room.
The maximum number of people allowed in the room is 50 due to fire restrictions and no more than this number will be admitted.
