Dating back in parts to c.1430, The Spread Eagle Hotel & Spa is a charming 15th century coaching inn located in the medieval market town of Midhurst, West Sussex, set in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The hotel has successfully blended over 580 years of history, combining traditional surroundings with modern amenities, such as the Aquila Spa. Each of the hotel’s thirty-eight bedrooms are individually-decorated and furnished, some with four-poster beds including the Queen’s Suite, reputed to have been used by Queen Elizabeth I when she visited the nearby Cowdray estate in 1591. Inglenook fireplaces, Tudor bread ovens, Flemish stained glass windows and oak beams are just some of the many original features that have been retained within the hotel over the centuries.

The hotel’s Jacobean Hall, with heraldic banners, magnificent natural stone walls and a minstrel’s gallery, has been witness to centuries of revelry and celebration and provides a most striking venue for your wedding day. Hire of the Hall also includes private use of the Jacobean Garden. Whether you require a traditional seated wedding breakfast or more informal buffet, we ask that you sit for your meal no later than 4.00pm. We ask that the minimum spend for food per person is £55.00. Coffee is served in the Garden or Conservatory whilst we re-lay the Hall to provide you with an area for dancing, so that you and your guests can celebrate into the night. Due to the location of the hotel, there is a restriction on musical entertainment which must cease at 11.30pm, with the bar closing at midnight.
