A fairy-tale castle – just for you

Thirlestane Castle is a fairy-tale exclusive use venue set in the beautiful Scottish Borders, yet only 45 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh. The Castle offers the perfect romantic setting for a memorable wedding for both you and your guests. To this day the Castle remains very much the home of the Maitland family who built the original Castle in 1590 and have lived here ever since, giving the rooms a lovely family home atmosphere.

Your guests will be welcomed at the top of the Castle steps – a perfect spot for group photos – before continuing to the State Drawing Room with its magnificent ceilings for the Wedding Ceremony. The State Dining Room provides a spectacular setting for groups of up to 60 people for your meal. It is also possible to seat 90 people in the Drawing Room if this is not used for the wedding ceremony. Larger parties and evening dances can also be accommodated in a luxurious marquee in the Rose Garden within the walls of the Castle.

Accommodation
Our 5*one-bedroomed Lauderdale Apartment is included in the rental of the Castle for overnight accommodation for the Bride and Groom on the night of the Wedding. This is a warm and welcoming space for the bride and her attendants to get ready on the morning of the wedding, before relaxing with a glass of Champagne!
